Hi all, Another worthwile activity at Sun n Fun is the FAA pre flight contest next to the FAA building. I worked at that booth for many years and lots of Coupers stopped by to compete for prizes. It was fun to try to outwit the inspectors who set up the discrepencies in the aircraft. They screwed up the airplane with 10 small faults, some of which were real airworthy concerns. Your job is to find as many as you can. Flight Safety donates one of their aircraft each year for the project.. I remember that one year a pilot who flew in donated his plane for the contest.. The contestants found so many things wrong with it, in addition to the added faults, that we acrtually grounded the airplane right there. I occasionally set up my Coupe for the same purpose here in the Chicago area and give prizes to those who find the most problems. It might be interesting to set up a Coupe at the nationals with lots of little things wrong. Maybe get Lynn Nelson to do some real sneakey things to it. I can set it up so that it qualifies for the Wings program and Dennis and I can sign your FAA wings cards.
