Hartmut,

Hum, though I’d like to help you with alternate lists for other models, I only owned the D with the C-85.

Perhaps the list members could quickly let you know the key engine numbers for the other models.  A-787 and A-718 will give the static rpm limits.

Your list would be a good one to use as a starter list.  Whether or not Mitch wants to put them on the Ercoupe.org site, I’ll put them on my Ercoupe website.

You’re right that useful load is the bug-a-boo of Ercoupes.  I had 505 lb. useful load and my weight used to hover around 250.  With my wife at 145-155, we only had 16 lb. for luggage to stay within my personal limit of 50 over gross (with full fuel).  And I’d only go over gross on a long cross country and I’d be very, extra careful till the first 50 lb. of fuel burned off.)

My Coupe had LOTS of heavy instruments.  If Sport somehow allows Ercoupes (or if I can someday get my medical back), I might someday get one again.  If so, I’ll strip it down to minimal instruments and see if I can get approval to use modern electronic combo instruments.  With those and a light weight battery and a modern light-weight starter, we could trim the plane by more than 100 lb., I bet.

For my Challenger, I’ve got a combo electronic instrument that has everything except the compass, all in about two (2) lb.  With that, a compass and a GPS, I could have it all covered with 5 lb. of instruments.  The catch is that this is not a TSOed instrument package so special FAA approval would have to be obtained.  I don’t know what the chances are for such approval.

FW: [COUPERS-FLYIN] Pre Flight Checklist

Hartmut,

In
 the initial
category, what is “Papera
A.R.O.W”

 <![endif]>

Ve
ry good
checklist.  If I still had
my
Coupe, I’d adopt yours.

Thanks Ed for the nice words.

I just realized that sending the checklist to the group removed me from both lists on the Ercoupers servers.

I hope it is fixed by now.

Papera by the way should be Papers, the s is close to the a on the keyboard.

AROW:

Airworthiness,Registration, Operator Manual, Weight and Balance .

I wrote that when I just finished my flight training 5 years ago.

The checklist is adjusted for a 85 horse engine with a McCauley prop. I would publish it on the Ercoupers side if it would be more common. Or Maybe, with your help I can make a few more for different Engine/Aircraft Combinations and publish them on the Ercoupers site.

One thing I realized late was how little payload we actually have in our Coupes.

Hartmut
