Without defending them because I, too, lived inside that system..they are
in 
a competitive system that forces them to go out and find news wherever it
can 
be dug up, no matter where.  It is either publish or perish and you do
what 
you are told.

I am interested in that story because it should serve as a warning to us 
all--if the "Big Dogs" (networks) of the business do it, the "Pups" (small
local 
station news operations) will copy them.  We should all be very aware of
it.  
If you see a camera crew when there's no big event in progress, it's safe
to 
assume they are "enterprising" a story of their own.

I will say that since I was never a fan of the evening news "magazines"
and 
their methods, it was nice to see the "Big Dogs" get caught.  The
bastardized 
journalism being practiced today ain't what I learned when I was a Pup.
