Always liked the looks of the coupe, but never thought that i would own one. I built from plans a Starduster one and have been flying it for the last fifteen years, what a delightful little plane to fly! While at a fly-in this past summer another aircraft taxied into my two left wings giving me a winter rebuild of both left wings. A good friend had two coupes and sold 3041h to me.Both wings were off for storage so wing inspection was easy to do .Center section was good it had been treated and primed ,also removed wing tanks to aide in spar inspection. We removed about 10 lbs of instruments that were so old they could have come from Noah's Arc. Engine has about 70 hrs smoh. However starter clutch was damaged on second start up due to kickback. I decided to bite the bullet and ordered a Skytec starter with push button. My coupe has rudder peddles. I don't like the brake handle mounted on the inst. panel. I it possible to convert the Alon rudder mod. to a 415 cdor d or e. Also would like to install a piper hand brake under inst. panel. My coupe has cleveland brakes, 60amp alt.oil filter. Paint is pre-war military scheme with bare alum. fuse. yellow wings and rudders with stripes and stars. We joke about having 500 man hrs. to 1.5 hrs. flying time so far! Things should even out soon. Forgot to mention we had to splice a univair right rear spar & fitting at the rear spar attach fitting per univair drawing. Any comments suggestions etc.?
