http://www.omen.com/f/avradio.html I was thinking a centre fed dipole arrangement with a DF sense antenna for the coupe. My FT-817 is only 5W QRP rig anyway but covers 160m-70cm bands and with a small auto tuner (and the right setup) could be used quite usefully aeromobile on long journeys. My coupe used to have an ADF in it (before I owned it) and it wouldn't be too hard to re-run the sense antenna wires. The 817 is a tiny rig (about the size of a small CB radio) and would add negligible weight to the loaded aircraft. Maybe next summer. In the meantime I will just have to work with my VXA-700 and a few simplex contacts from the air. My home rig is an FT100 (which also would be good in the coupe - just not so sure about 100W in the air though ;-) Cheers.
