When you live here you get used to it, but this is one area you want to have a radio and flight following. There are many student pilots in the area both military and civilian and the beaches are a favorite training spot. Peter Prince airport (2R4) has a right pattern for 18 and a left for 36 and you cannot just cut across Whiting Field's airspace to enter Peter Prince. You would risk getting run over by the training aircraft screaming out of there. I flew from Atlanta to Destin for the Seaside Wine/Film festival. HIGHLY recommended. Question is for those of you living in that area, and I know there are a few. WHAT SCREWED UP AIRSPACE!!!! You're asked to make a downwind departure leaving 32, with a left turn within 1 mile. OK, best I figured, you actually turn out left and run east down the beach until Eglin Approach turns you north, right? Well at that point, you're below the restricted area. Thank God it was Saturday and Sunday so clearing through it was no big deal as Eglin has control. What do you do Monday through Friday? I know this area is VERY HOT during the week. It's a high traffic area, so just turning circles is a bit crazy, and you're in Warning area to the south. Another is the Eglin B MOA. It looks like if this thing is hot, you just stay in Atlanta and wait till another day, because you can't get there. I like going down there to visit friends, and would like to hear from a local how to make this easy. Thanks.
