Glad to hear some conversation regarding Ercoupe performance from less than perfect strips.

I fly my 415 C with an 85 hp Continental from Hillside Airport (63K) on the south edge of Kansas City.  The strip is listed at 2000 feet but that is a bit optomistic in my opinion.  Further, it is a mix of some paving (very little) and grass.  In addition runway 18  is downhill until about half way then up, then downhill again.

The approach from the north is over trees although a clearing about 50 yards has been cut before the runway starts.  From the south the approach is over some trees until you reach the end of the runway and drop below the trees on the west side.  All in all it makes for some very interesting landing and occasionally takeoffs.  I haven't tried it with anything like full load.

Bottom line: always land into the wind!, get down as soon as possible, and be sure the brakes work.
