I'm a displaced Iowan who used to live in Iowa City, just south of Cedar
Rapids. I didn't find (or create) any Coupe knowledgeable mechanics
around
Iowa City / Cedar Rapids.
If the plane he's looking at is west, toward Central Iowa, I'd recommend
Randy Tarlton at the Perry airport just northwest of Des Moines. Randy
did
my maintenance for nine years when I lived in Des Moines. He also did
my
major overhaul (very well and to factory new specs), recovered my wings
(beautifully!) and had restored at least one other Coupe to show
quality.

I just received an email from a man in the Cedar Rapids IA area who is
looking at a coupe. He's flown it and inspected the plane and log books,
to the best of ability, and now he is looking for a "coupe intelligent"
mechanic to either do the pre-purchase or guide a local A&P through it.
I've pointed him to the EOC and Ercoupers.com so he might show up here,
but in the meantime I thought I'd put the word out. Anybody able to help
out here?
