Hi, Leslie.

The steering rod comes to the nose gear from the control system. At the
point where the fore-aft rod connects with the nose-gear-steering fitting,
the attachment can be made by either a bolt (the newer way) or by a ball
which fits into the fore-aft rod's socket.

The earlier Coupes had the ball. Your Alon should have the bolt. The
trouble with the ball is that the narrow metal extrusion, between the ball
and the point it attaches to the nose gear, is so thin it shears off when
bumped.

Hi Ed,

A quick note from the mechanically challenged...does this apply to the
steel
spring gear as well? Where is this little bugger, exactly?
