Hello to all,I got out to look at my coupe the other day and looked at my flight log squak sheet I keep in the plane- I haven't flown since 01/09/03 that sux eh?Generally the weather in Ill has been crappy and not conducive.BUT during that time I bought a new Yeasu handheld transciever It is a gem it works great.Excellent backup I got a coax converter for it so I can hook up to my external antenna using a B&C connecter.Everyone should have a backup radio and some backup NAV stuff along with the map on your lap situation awareness you know.Hey, have a PTT switch quit on you -you can hear everyone but they can't hear you I've been there!! it sux so I got a backup really cheap with their rebate it was 239.00 with the headset adaptor (no nav) I have 2 GPS'S .I remeber going to the nationals last summer the ceilings were low, vis was 5-6 and my GPS lost the satellites and I'm still in Ill but south of home.I found my way back to a familiar airport so I could screw around with the GPS not in the air.That's when I decided to have redundant systems or an extra gps and radio.I'm glad I did.Think about it then DO IT!!!The handheld has weather stations on it too.
