Hello to couperland,Well I guess I should interject my thoughts too regarding having pedals. My airplane before the coupe was a Cessna 140 taildragger with pedals -of course it did.I bought the coupe and flew it home from an airport really close to St Louis With Bill Coons in the copilot seat and 4 GPS'S (He's our resident GPS Guru and works at JA radio shop and sales at Dupage airport ANYWAY he helped me by letting me fly his plane some for insurance purposes so I had the feel for it B4 I bought mine.Ihadn't really had a bad crosswind B4 hand with the coupe but found it to be docile enough to relly not worry too much about it.Well acouple of weeks later I found out all about Xwind landings by myself. As I approached this field I wanted to land at I realized that I was lining up with my NAV Lites( pretty bad Xwind)but steady not gusty at all, My rudder feet were orphaned they had no pedals the firewall has impressions of my feet from the inside out, my seat cushions were eaten by my svincter I'm sweating I'm yelling to myself WHY did I buy this ****en airplane I remembered Everything BILL taught me and my instucter and then some. my life flashed in front of me so did the RWY everything seemed pretty good a 90 degree x wind out of the south at 20 plus I crabbed noproblem the wheels touched- keep this plane flat ,no high wing with the yoke turned You guessed it a PERFECT GREASER awsome when I taxied up to the pumps I noticed a whole goup of pilots clapping and whistling GREAT LANDING best one all day we are scoring them you were the only one that stayed down the cessna's diverted after screwing up one after another.I asked what the winds were and they said 35 plus I thought it was 20.So to the guy wondering pedals or not get a ride first come to ILL I'll show ya the technique is to land a coupe in Xwinds isn't hard ya just need to experience it All the guys that responded ED, GREG, ME we,ve been there IT"S a fun bird.Hope that helped Dennis in Ill 99564 __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
