This might not be completely off topic since the P-38 has twin tails. <G> Did anyone catch the hour and a half special on History channel about the P-38 recovered from the glacier? The first hour was all old material that's been seen before, but the last half hour covered the restoration and first flight. I would like to have MUCH more detail on the restoration. I was amazed by the video of the first flight. They had a camera positioned where you could see aircraft attitude & control & wheel deflection at the same time. I was surprised by the amount of wheel throw versus bank angle. At one time you could see the control wheel deflected 90 degrees while the plane smoothly rolled into a moderate bank. I don't know what the airspeed was. It didn't look like he was mushing along in slow flight though. Boy is that plane smooth. I'd probably swap the Coupe for it if they'd throw in a gas card in the deal. <G> Cheers: Paul NC2273H ========================================================================== ==== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm Search the archives on http://escribe.com/aviation/coupers/
