Pete,
I do not understand your post to the Ercoupe list. I have had a Garmin
Pilot III for nearly 4 years. I have several "personal" waypoints stored.
Some of these have been there since I first used it. They never go away,
unless I delete them. When I want to go to one of these points that is not
in the canned database, or one that is in the database for that matter, I
use the routes screen and enter a route to that waypoint. ( Of course you
have to select that route and then activate it to make it the active
route.)
The goto nrst is a safety function that will take you to the closest
landing
facility. It would be awkward to use that facility for normal navigation.
It would also defeat the built in safety function. My Pilot III works
mostly like the manual says. It is not the easiest machine to use, but it
is
adequate for my VFR flying, and is the right size for a Coupe.
