It would appear to my eye that the wire to the
field lead of the generator is shorted to ground. The field is switched
off ( open) at the same time as the master is switched off (open) to keep the
generator from running as a motor if the current relay in the voltage regulator
sticks, which it is wont to do. I think the generator field leads are
shielded cables, check for a short to the shield.
