The glide is decent at a good airspeed of 70-85 mph.  At lower airspeeds, the Coupe shares the glide ratio of the other short, thick winged planes like Tri-Pacer and other Piper short-wings, with the early Piper Cherokees and others of the era.

Don’t fret about it.  Fly your approaches a bit above 1.3 times minimum flying speed and your glide ratio will be acceptable (though not great).

For detailed discussion, see the EOC website FAQ and search (cntl-F) for the word sink.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Questions about "Sink" rate on ercoupe

I am a new member on the mailing list and very happy to be aboard!
I have two questions to ask. I have been reading alot about "Coupes" because I am strongly considering the purchase of one. The first question is: What is the "Sink" rate tendency that may occur while landing? Why does this happen? and How can it be avoided in the "Coupe". Question Two: Does the "Coupe" have a decent gliding ability in case of an engine out, or does it fall out of the sky?

     Thanks
