Kathy,
I think I'd test the water before you decide that a small plane isn't saleable.  Go to www.traderonline.com, and you can place an add for $0.00.  Yes, that's no down, and nothing a month until it sales.  If you want photo's, you'll have to pay a little more than that.  When I sold my Coupe, I placed that add, and I had about 4 buyers lined up just in case the one before them pooped out.  Don't know if I got enough or not, but I did get exactly what I was asking for it.

Subject: [COUPERS-FLYIN] Without pickling your engine

Ok, Guys, calm down.

My problem is I'm short on cash + need to protect my Coupe.  I had someone flying her about every 2 months, but they're moving from AZ to CA, thus I have no one to fly her now.  I need someone current in Coupes, trustworthy and very safe.  Wouldn't you want references, too, if it was your plane and you didn't know the pilot?

If the economy was better either I'd have the $ I need, or I would sell my Coupe, but understand small planes are selling for about half their value right now.

Go tell them they are stupid and of course tell them the correct way to do it, at least tell them your way because that appears to be the best.         Dick & Nancy  [EMAIL PROTECTED]

By me saying run it once in a while I of course did not assume that some one would be stupid enough to start it and shut it down before it was up to temperature.
I didn't intend to imply anyone was stupid.  What folks don't realize is that you cannot get the engine warm enough on the ground to get the oil up to 180 and keep it there for 1/2 hour, long enough to boil off the condensation, without exceeding the cylinder head temperature limitations.  Oil and engine manufacturers agree: ground running is worse than letting the engine sit.  My philosophy is: if you start it you better fly it.
BTW, there are a lot of "stupid" people out there.  All you have to do is go to the airport some Saturday during the winter and watch them spend 20 minutes preparing then 10 minutes running the engine then another 20 minutes closing everything up.            John
