Hello to All,This is kinda directed to whomever has
experience with our header tank (Serial # 2187)Jan or
Lynn come readily to mind.Bill Coons and I were flying
back in my coupe yesterday a beautiful day I might add
when Bill said " I felt a drop on my leg" I said it
isn't rainning .I put my hand up under the panel and
my header tank was wet ."OH HAPPY DAYS". I said Bill
put out that cigar. It's wet under there.and it smells
like 100ll.When we got back, it got under the panel
and it was dry bone dry under there. So I told Bill he
could lite up the cigar (kidding). So today I pulled
out some instruments ( A Cello and a trumpet) so I
could look at the tank better.
It was dry Bone dry,I yelled CLEAR and started up the
coupe within 3-4 secounds it wetted up a little. The
header is full but it only gets wet when the pump is
working not when the plane sits.OK I've isolated that
so far what is it? The over flow pipe? The 2 lines
going in to the back of the tank are dry it appears
that it's from above them.A crack in the filler up
above maybe. This is the last thing I need now ..Let me
know what I'm in for..Dennis 99564 in ILL
