Everybody, I just bought my sweet little "Frolic" (415 D) a used replacement header tank valve with finger strainer. It cost about $160. As a byproduct, I now have the old valve that I removed. It was sealed open with epoxy. In hopes of restoring it, I baked it last night for an hour at 475 degrees. The exterior epoxy flaked off, but the valve still seems to be frozen. I tried an impact wrench on it. No joy. I cannot think of any other way to approach this problem short of potentially destructive action. SO, here's the deal. If any of ya'll adventurers would care to take custody of this relic and attempt to restore it, I WILL GIVE IT TO YOU for ten bucks, flat. That covers postage and handling and everything. Essentially, the part is free. Maybe you can repair it. Maybe you can't. But, you must promise to TRY to get it back into an airplane. If you repair it and sell it for big bucks, good for you. We will have saved another irreplaceable Ercoupe part. I will be happy. Just send me an e-mail. First to come is first served. Checks only. I suppose that only a 'Couper would be so obsessed with such a little organ harvest, eh?
