Darick,
They are similar to lead-acid car batteries in that they can be charged by normal means (uncertified by the FAA, yet!), and have more cranking power when they are warm.  They are not similar to car batteries in that the caps are special, and will not fit car batteries.

Subject: battery

A newbie question to all,

I'd like to know more about the batteries in our aircraft.

The coupe I'm buying has not been flown very much (less than 10 hours/year), consequently, the battery has not been charged on a regular basis (and maybe it doesn't need to be).  I was wondering if they are constructed similar to auto batteries, i.e. lead acid, that can be charged by a typical auto battery charger, if necessary on a trickle charge?

Thanks,
Darick Gundy
