Scott,
What you need is a combo. The Cherokee
Arrow for the high speed cruise. The PPG (Powered ParaGlider) stowed in the back
seat or luggage area for low and slow flying in early morning and evening when
the wind dies and the air is nice.
Total price: Cost of Arrow plus about
$6,000-$8,000.
Or, you can buy a used Challenger for
$8,000-$12,000. Send $12 to Quad Cities Ultralight for the video. Click on http://www.quadcitychallenger.com/

and click on <Info & Video> blue box at the top of the home
page. The video is mostly air-to-air video of Challengers flying, often flying
low. It’s worth the cost just for the beauty of the video.
While the Ercoupe may not be fast enough
for you, you might find a faster Classic aircraft, experimental or even an Alon
that meets your need for speed. Then, the 24-75 mph Challenger could meet your
need for open air slow.
Let us know what you settle upon.
