Randy,

Jerry gave you some excellent advise. I especially like the fact that he
gives towered airport instruction as a matter of course. He's absolutely
right that it's worth having...just in case.

As I understand it, from talking to Charlie Becker at EAA, any CFI can
give sport pilot training. And the duel instruction can be dome in any
aircraft, not just an LSA. (All your solo time must be in an LSA,
however.)

I would suggest contacting Charlie. He's the Sport Pilot "expert" at EAA
and can answer any question you might have.

Hi All,
Who out there has gone through the process of getting a sport pilot
license
from scratch. By that I mean not ever being a pilot befor. I have a
friend
who is a flight instructor so he can give me lessons. We need to know
the
steps to go through in order to get started. I'm not looking for
somebody to
point me to a page full of regulations that I have to try to figure out.
I
just want somebody to tell me in english how to do it in real life. I
hope
we have someone on this list that has done it or is doing it now.
Thanks,
