OK Folks, Right on que, this story broke only 15 minutes ago. A commercial airline passenger phoned in a bomb threat. Dave Winters TOLEDO, Ohio - Emergency crews were responding to a bomb threat Friday morning that was reported by a passenger aboard a plane at Toledo Express Airport, officials said. It wasn't immediately clear how many people were on the plane or if the small airport would be evacuated. The call came in about 10:30 a.m., acting Deputy Fire Chief Greg Locher said. He did not say whether the caller found out about the threat or was the one making the threat. "We have sketchy information. We're setting up a command post," he said. Officials said the airplane was American Eagle Flight 4359 and was to have flown to Chicago. Instead, it was moved away from terminal and passengers were to be searched. The Federal Aviation Administration said it was aware of the situation but had no information. The Transportation Security Administration did not immediately return messages seeking comment. This report will be updated as information becomes available. The Associated Press contributed to this report. -----Original Message----- From: Hartmut Beil [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, January 12, 2007 4:15 AM To: Ercoupe Hangar Flying Subject: [COUPERS-FLYIN] Stop the beginning ----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Friends. I read the following in the latest AOPA letter. "Ohio aircraft owners have been singled out by the state to sign a declaration with their annual aircraft registration renewal that they are not involved in terrorist activity" I am frustrated about how society is using any excuse to turn against General Aviation. If we do not fight this with all the power we have, one might end up like we did here Germany where Government made it law to require any Pilot to give a way all rights of his privacy and of his family too when renewing his license. License renewal happens every 2 years for German pilots. German pilots have to sign an agreement to pay for any investigation of the German institutions comparable to the FBI,CIA, local Police and the security department of the locals Aviation Safety Office. One has to name the place where lived for the last 10 years and in cases give detailed explanations on any civil law suits one was involved in. To add insult to injury, the state also forces us Pilots to pay for any of the investigations. My brother refused to sign this ridiculous piece of intrusion into our personal lives and his license got revoked immediately. The local office was eager to have him surrender his license, they acted happily - ignoring the fact that without pilots they are out of a job either. However. I hear of car bombs every day, yet there is no driver in the world a suspect. Why we pilots and aircraft owners? 9/11 th? If so then we should require anybody who boards a Commercial airliner to sign a declaration that they are not terrorists. THAT would be logical and just.
