I've followed this thread but hesitated to add to it because I think that all of the Coupe benefits have been covered. However, I do think that these benefits have some personal priorities related to them. In my change from an IFR rated Private Pilot to flying under the Sport Pilot Rules, I had certain priorities.
Affordability - in purchase cost, maintenance, and operations.
A certified aircraft.
Good performance.
Side-by-side seating.
An electrical system.

An Ercoupe was about the only aircraft that matched up to meeting my priorities. Next on my list was an Aronca Chief but I got lucky and found a Coupe before I got too impatient. I find that I've also gained a plane that is easy to fly, fun to fly, and safer to fly. Who could really ask for anything more?
