Sometimes a good offense is better than defense. I think we(AOPA, EAA etc) should lobby to cut the airline subsidies and apply the first year saving to modernizing the FAA. Boy what they could do with all that money. Then we can give the routes to BA, ELAL, Japon Air, etc. If we can't make money as an airline, give it to someone who can, I don't care what's painted on the side of the 757, as long as it's safe. Yes, tickets will go up but the subsidy savings after year one will more than make up for it.
