Somehow the text to my previous email (with the pic attached) seems to have
gotten lost.

Interesting that Boeing is now pursueing this more htan 70-year-old idea! And
great that a company is finally daring enough to implement this idea for
commercial purposes (other than the Nortrhop B2 "Stealth" Bomber).

Already in the 1920ies/ 30ies, i.e. years before Northrop, the German
brothers and aircraft engineers Reimar and Walter Horten had stubbornly and
against the then contemporary engineering mainstream pursued the idea of an all
wing aircraft. During WW2, they were both in active duty as Me109 fighter
pilots (Reimar having temporarily been Adolf Galland's wingman), but
nevertheless they continued their research & development.

Göring supported some of their ideas and the most important output of that
was the "WW2 Stealth" Horten IX, of which I sent a picture in my previous mail.

Most interestingly, the Hortens had also made blueprints for a Cargo/
Passenger Version of a "Nurflügler", with 6 engines and 70 tons take-off
weight, cabable of transatlantic flights. Check this out:

  Pretty cool passenger cabin, huh?
