SPOOK,

I love being asked that question.

BEST AVIATION BOOK EVER:

MY OPINION, BEST READING FOR ANY BOOK, PERIOD, IS

NANETTE by EDWARDS PARK

It is funny, informed, not exactly a novel.but not exactly a bio either.
Great WW-II flying scenes.

Nanette was a P-39. A cowardly, slovenly, vamp of an airplane who, due to
her unabashed cowardice, kept the author's butt out of a sling for almost
the entire war.

(She only got into one dog fight and that was 'cuz she was distracted while
having flying fun with her pilot boyfriend and got caught off guard.)

The author calls his story "an exaggeration." If you can read it without
laughing out loud.and maybe shedding an occasional tear.you ain't human.

I repeatedly pick it up and read it again.

(Now at this point, I would be remiss to not admit that I loved the late
author, Ted Parks, like a father. A Smithsonian editor and writer, he was
even more fun to listen to than to read.if that's possible.)

Dave Winters

Hi Folks,

I would appreciate it if you would tell me about

novelists that you like. That is, authors that include

lots of flying in their books although the stories

don't have to be exclusively about flying.

Thanks!
