Ed, I was waiting for you to say the dipsey drivers claimed, "I didn't even see him!", a common plea from unattentive drivers who run into motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
A friend and I got nailed, NAILED, while SITTING on his motorcycle in a parking lot. A man was speeding through the parking lot at much too high a speed for a parking lot. He saw us at the last spilt second and started braking. I am thinking that the fact that he started to brake was the difference between us being dead and 'just' having the broken legs that we got. The cop who assessed and measured the scene said that the driver was going 27mph when he hit us. No remember, he hit us after he began to brake. Can you imagine how fast he was going prior to that? 27mph perhaps doesn't sound all that fast, but against human bodies with no metal around them, it does plenty of damage. The driver's excuse, "I didn't see them." Spook
