Ralph Your description of the Champ wallowing all the time perfectly describes my experience. Not that it will bother my AP-IA-CFI... His other two planes are a single hole Pitts and a two hole Pitts !!! Well...I'm not a tailwheel expert, but have over a hundred hours in mostly the J-3, and also the Champ, Citabria, and Decathlon. In my opinion the Champ wallows all the time, on the ground and in the air. The J-3 Cub was a hoot to fly and land and much more fun. In the flying club that had these, the Champ was so unused that eventually it was removed from flying. But the Cub was always booked. So your experience was not just you, it was the airplane too. Sorry Champ lovers! Ralph Finch
