Fred; Who says no one is actually going to do anything. Wanna bet something is being done right now within EOC? Case and point, a few months ago when I was inquiring about the D increase I was told it couldn't be done, it was a done deal, call so & so with EAA, he'll tell you the story, etc. Now today one of those fellows said he's for that (trying for an exclusion for the D's). If nothing else, we've been able to open a closed mind or two and maybe even made a convert from the "It Can't Be Done Society" to the "Can-Do Club". Given history, I'd say that was a damn major leap! You DID do something, you participated with your input, which is valuable.
And no sense in becoming complacent. No progress there, so I'm not moving on. I've asked for some clarification from a few individuals who painted me as the devil, and I do expect a reply. Until then, this is very much alive. Talk is cheap. So, if no one is actually going to DO anything, (I know I'm not) can we please move on? Thanks, Fred Wellman ---- John Roach <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: ============= Coupers, I've watched this thread develop and I think that just about everything that could be said, has been said. If there were any simple answers, we would not have had this long a conversation. I'm an EOC member. I'm also a a member of AOPA, EAA, VAA, and I'm pretty active in our local chapter, EAA 932. Are there things that I think each of these organizations should be doing or be doing better? Of course. But, in general, I think each organization has many members to satisfy and each organization has a finite workload that it can carry. I stay a member of each because I want to keep abreast of what's going on and I want to be able to use these organizations as a resource when I have concerns in their area of expertise. Would I like each organization to do more? Of course. But, just as their resources are finite, so are mine. I spend many hours each month working on behalf of my EAA Chapter and the small airport where I keep my coupe. I spend a lot more time in this work than I fly. If I had more time available, I'd spend it the same way. I don't have time to do all the things I'd like to do for the chapter and the airport. And, without the time and energy to do more for the other organizations, I don't think I want to spend a lot of time thinking up all the potential things I would do if only I had the time to do them. A lot of the ideas expressed over the past few days make a lot of sense. But, thinking up ideas is really very easy. Doing them? That's another story. I will be very interested in reading about what any of you are doing or are planning to do. But I think that all the talk about what isn't being done is going to get a quick hit from my delete key.
