Sorry, should have been Thanks Lee and some following statements.

Let me add that there should be some qualifying experience before starting to
make negative, or even any comments. If you only looked at the webpage or
thumbed through a copy or two of the rag and were never a member, maybe it
would be a good thing to just lurk to see what those who were actually already
there, done that and got the T Shirt have to say. By the same token, the
experienced shouldn't poo-poo the comments or suggestions of others whether you
agree or not. Take those comments, analyze why they were made, compare with
your own experiences and take the appropriate action, whatever you feel it may
be. Above all, we're aircraft owners, something 99% of the world's population
will never be. Let's act as the professionals that we are.

As far as constructive comments and observations, I would like to think that
some directors within EOC who indeed have the Ercouper's best intentions would
appreciate them. I would welcome them.

Finally, since it's been the only game in town, regardless of how well-managed
or mismanaged (depending on your own standards) you feel it is, it needs the
support of ALL 'Coupers. I'll make no excuses for inappropriate statements but
hope you follow my lead and toss in your $30. NOT to subscribe to Coupe
Capers, but to further the ownership experience.

No boys I'm still not done. So if there's a pool out there, don't bet against
me ;-) !

  Subject: [ercoupe-flyin] Eoc responds

First I would like to applaud Ed and Al for joining the EOC, it reflects
credit on their character and illustrates they really have the best interest of
Ercoupes at heart and are grown men not children.

For all who aren't a member of EOC and were offended by Skip's Buzz off
comment and now they won't ever join because of it, I offer the following.

The EOC, flyin and tech forums are of the same family, but not the immediate
family, lets say cousins. Members of each of these groups are individual
families and govern how each one conducts its business. If one is not a member
of the EOC and begins or joins a critical discertation on what is wrong with
them and how poorly the head of the family is operating it, well those comments
may or may not be considered by the group or head of the group. Looking at it
like my personal family, should someone jump on me like a herd of turtles, I
being of the personality I am would resent it and telling them to buzz off
would be the most polite thing I would do. Now should the criticism be made in
a constructive manner, instead of a negative attack into which many jumped,
then feathers would not be ruffled and the comments would be more likely to be
taken seriously. In reading all the comments posted, it seemed to follow a
linch mob mentality. It was started and many jumped in because it was an
attack.

All this is not to comment on the accuracy of any of the criticisms, just
that we take pride in our families and don't like someone saying" Hey, did you
hear how ole Lee is screwing up the raising of his kids" and placing it where I
will be likely to see it.

Now if you marry into the family (join) constructive comments have more
weight. Negative comments and criticism made in a negative manner is seldom
accepted. So if you were offended by a Buzz Off which in my opinion
wasjustified and because of that won't join, I personally don't see your action
as really having any substance behind your critical comments made in the first
place. It also shows a true lack of desire to further the goal of making the
EOC, tech and flyin forums the best possible ones around and perhaps the
negative and critical comments were made just to be negative and critical and
not for the good of the clubs.

Also, a personal idea, when you throw rocks and don't expect to receive any
in return, well that is sort of like a spoiled child that feels they can say
anything they want and the recepient is suppose to stay quiet.

So grow up and act like a responsible adult, join the club, and volunteer to
help.

  Now blast me away children.

Thanks Dan, but I'm a non-member. So I followed the instructions in the
opening statement ...

    and Buzzed Off.

It was so inappropriate for the Executive Director of the EOC to come here
and tell all non-members (which are technically potential new members) to Buzz
Off.

Ironically, Dan Hall (unknowingly) almost had me talked into joining myself
and my partner. I was even considering talking to Dan in regard to hosting a
Big Bear Fly-In at my company hangar. To be absolutely honest, that was more
than just a bit of a turn-off. In the mid 90's thru 2000 when I had my last
Coupe, I was a member of EOC. In fact I was an advertiser in Coupe Capers as
well. I have to admit that I find it shocking that any principal would talk to
potential new members and advertisers in such a manner. Seems to be a pretty
unhealthy move for EOC. I'm not sure what was expected to be accomplished in
doing so, but I high suspect that it won't yield positive results for anybody.

  Richard
