I lean aggressively(!) on the ground, and in flight when at or below 65% power
(watching EGT & CHT carefully!).
At the end of a flight I also bump up the RPM to 1100 as Syd does, but do so
while stopped just prior to leaning to idle cut off & engine shut down.
I also put the Iridium fine wire style plugs in my O-200 powered Coupe, which
are less prone to fouling, and will never go back to the normal large electrode
plugs. The iridium plugs are expensive, but worth it IMHO. I'm sure I'll
hear about that choice.... ;-)

After landing, as you taxi to your hangar or tie-down spot or fuel station,
try running the engine at about 1100 rpm while riding the brakes to keep from
going too fast. Do this for at least 1 minute, then shut down. This heats up
the cylinder heads and burns the lead off the valves & plugs. Works for me.

You are right about having to lean and clean out the plugs. We had to do
this back in the 60's, but we were useing 100 0ctane leaded. The Avgas now is
100LL (low lead).
To me, 100LL stands for 100 octane, Lotsa Lead (had wicked fouling problems
in our club's '69 C-172)
