I recently ran across a history of Grand Central Air Terminal in Glendale California. This interested me since I had learned to fly there in the 50s. About 1000 Ercoupes destined for the West Coast were shipped there and assembled during the 40. In addition a number of Coupes were donated to a flying club set up for handicapped veterans.
The art deco control tower has been preserved as a historic building with efforts to declare it a national landmark. see http://www.godickson.com/gca1.htm. I uploaded a scan of a couple of pictures of Ercoupes taken at Grand Central. Cheers: Paul N1431A KPLU
