Coupers

I had some work in San Antonio this past week. With a few hours free I called
Couper Tommy Terry. He graciously invited me for a ride in his "C" model that
he wanted to sell recently but his wife said "no way". Had a great tour of
south Texas from 1500 feet. He then demonstrated a landing technique which he
called "solid". He made me promise to not tell anyone about it so please do
not let on that you know.

We then had some great burgers at the local greasy spoon. I had the privilege
to meet one of his airport buddies. This chap is quite remarkable. He retired
14 years ago at age 62. He is now 76, In those 14 years he as built ELEVEN
airplanes! Not kit planes, mind you, but all from scratch!!!!! That's eleven
planes in 14!!!! Presently he is building a French design car, built in the
1920's, with an aircraft engine and a propeller for power.

I took some pictures of my visit. Take a look at Tommy's lovely "C" and
pictures of some of the eleven planes his friend built. You can see them at:

The Password is Tommy, with a capital "T".

Thanks Tommy.
