Dan, I have a King KX-125 in my Alon. It seems to be a pretty good radio. It has the VOR receiver built in with a built in CDI so that you don't need a separate hole in the panel for the VOR head. My only complaint is that it doesn't let you listen to two frequencies at the same time, which is a nice feature if you are using flight following and want to hear automated weather transmissions at the same time.
