I'm hoping this is going to the right crowd...
For those of you who knew Dennis Spiegel (my best friend) passed away
Monday evening at Oshkosh. For all of you who knew him, you knew he
was an avid Ercoupe owner and pilot. I have some news about his
arrangements...
Visitation will be tomorrow Friday August 1st at 8:15 am at Weinstein
Funeral home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, Illinois. It will be
followed by the funeral at 9:00 am. There will be a Shiva (Jewish
tradition)Friday, Saturday, and Sunday any time after 5:00 pm at his
house at 2080 Oakwood Dr, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. This is open
to anyone and everyone is welcome.
I understand that the funeral home is 1 block North of Old Orchard.

This morning I heard from Darren Spiegel (his son) by phone. He has
emailed a few of us and has the following to say...
"Thanks to all the pilots and non that have supported me and my family
in this difficult time. As a special group that understand the
passion of flying that I shared with my father I have a request. Most
of you know that I still have to fly the Ercoupe back from Oshkosh.
Some have offered to fly it back, but I know that's not what he would
have wanted so I will fly it. I do however ask that anyone who wants
to join me on Monday or Tuesday on a flyout to Oshkosh and back (post
airshow) weather and personal limitations permitting in honor of my
best friend, wingman, and copilot it would be my honor. Please
forward to anyone I might have missed."
The above again was from Darren Spiegel, Dennis's son. The airport we
will be fly from will be 06c Schaumburg Regional approximately 8 miles
West of O'Hare near Chicago Illinois. (From 06c direct to OSH and
then from OSH back to 06c with Ercoupe 99564).
