And while you're at it folks, be very, very cautious about what you do when
you're connected via wireless.

Al,

I’ve seen nothing (other than web
rumors) saying that Yahoo can collect any information about “everywhere
you’ve been.”  If you have any such information, please send
me the links.

As I understand it, the web beacon system
sends a message when you visit a page that has a beacon embedded in it.
Embedding beacons in your web page is something you have to set up by contract
with Yahoo.

Somehow, I don’t expect that
99.999999% of the world has done so.

Still, feel free to “opt out.”
That’s a good thing to do for anyone who wants to.

HTML e-mail can also contain a beacon so,
to avoid e-mail beacons have all your forums send mail in plain text and send
it that way yourself.  If you’re worried, go into Yahoo’s
options and select “plain text” for your forum mail.  It takes
HTML to embed beacons in e-mail.

I use tools to help protect my privacy and
encourage others to do so, too.  Antivirus, malware detection, software
firewall, hardware firewall and very great care about what I type into the
Internet are all things worth using to protect your privacy.
