I could have sworn in the past month or two ercoupe.com was hijacked. After clicking on their link from google, I was taken to a search page. The page would not allow me to leave the site. New windows would pop up over and over again. I added this site to my "restricted zone," but now it seems ok.
I assumed they didn't pay for their domain registration and the registrar adds some hostile content, but that's just a guess. Google gives us the hostile urls. I think it's a good idea to add them to the restricted zone by going to: Tools/Internet Options/Security/Restricted Sites and clicking on the "sites" button. Then manually add the hostile site. You can also add a "host" file available from microsoft.
