ALinda,

During April of 1909 the Wrights were in Rome to deliver a Flyer to the Aeronautical Society of Rome and pick-up $10,000, the three of them (Wilbur, Orville and Katharine, sister) were in Rome while Wilbur trained the Aeronautical Society of Rome's pilot. The aircraft was a Flyer and Wilbur did all the flying, they later build a Type B, but they didn't call any of the their planes a Type A. Coming to Rome from Le Mans, and near Pau, Orville and Katharine's train hit a slower moving train, but neither were hurt.

Sorry, I just finished Wilbur and Orville by Fred Howard this morning.
