As some of you know, I fly hot air balloons, gliders and airplanes. As a
kid I would watch sailplanes over Elmira, NY, the home of Schweizer Aircraft
prior to its sale to Sikorsky.

Bill Schweizer, who founded the company with his late brothers Paul and
Ernie, sent me a note which I received today. It was about an article I
wrote for EAA's Sport Aviation some months ago about earning my glider
rating. He noted that I mentioned owning an Ercoupe and that I stated the
glider would get me using the rudder pedals again. He had a cute twist in
the note...

"The Ercoupe is an interesting aircraft, it forces you to use ailerons in a
turn which you should do even if you have a rudder".

Seems there are always at least two ways to look at things... nuts to those
who give us heck for having no rudder pedals.

Bill is a great guy...
