Hi Brian,
Welcome! What registration number does 3090 have there?
With regard to your #1, here's my opinion-same subject, 9/18/05:

Hi Lee,
I'm not sure what you have in mind, but I would offer these words of caution.
The Ercoupe gascolator mounted next to the carburetor is at the end of a long and continuous slope from the header tank. Located in this position there have been few, if any "field" problems with vapor lock. Vapor lock is very serious in a gravity-fed fuel delivery system. There is no "boost pump" to turn on!
When later manufacturers fitted a firewall-mounted gascolator, it was installed below both the carburetor and the oil tank. Field reports of vapor lock (interpret this as probable in-flight engine failure!) necessitated oil tank baffle, fuel line length, routing and fitting modifications as set forth in Alon Service Bulletin No. 12 (for airframes through A-204). These modifications cannot be considered entirely successful, as field problems continued.
In late 1969 or early 1970, Mooney issued MANDATORY Alon Service Bulletin A-10 (M10-1) because "Certain combinations of atmospheric conditions, aircraft attitudes, FUEL LEVELS (emphasis added-WRB) and/or NORMAL FLIGHT MANEUVERS (emphasis added-WRB), may result in a condition where FUEL STARVATION CAN OCCUR (emphasis added-WRB).
My point is that modifying the original fuel system design of the Ercoupe by installing a firewall mounted gascolator is a decision of potentially serious consequence with little, if any, benefit. I wouldn't do it.

Does anyone have a spare Gasolator that mounts to the firewall.
I am told they came on the Alons and perhaps Mooneys.

#2. The best information for installing 3 or 4 point seat belts will be a 337 from someone who has an Ercoupe with an approved installation.
#3. The Mooney M10 utililzed such a power relay. It was an RBM 70-111221 which is no longer listed by Univair as being available. You might contact them or John Cooper (Skyport) as to an approved "or equal". Aircraft Spruce lists a Master Relay (Battery Solenoid) rated 12V continuous duty, P/N 111-226 for $17.30 in their 2003-2004 Catalog. I agree with your logic on this item.

Hi Coupers
I have been lurking on the group some years now and I am restoring a 415C with 85hp.(AC serial No 3090 for those interested). Things have been slow due to work commitments but I am now getting things going again.
As I am based in Melbourne, Australia, there are not a lot of other coupes around to refer to for guidance or mod assistance. I intend keeping my Coupe as a 415C except for the stainless sheet over the fus tank. The other Coupes here are a D and a Fornay. Yep only three of us.
I am now at the stage where I need to add set belts, gascolator and battery isolator. My question is, can I beg, borrow or buy STC for the following?
1. Firewall Mounted Gascolator
2. Three or Four point Seat Belts
3. Battery Isolator Master Relay
The first two are obvious but the last one want to do because I do not like all the battery power (including starting) going through that little Master Switch contacts. Something like they have in the C150 or PA28 would probably do.
Thanks in advance for any assistance offered.
Brian Garrett
