I have always been in the habit of using a large [ 10 inch ] grounded metal
funnel that is equipped with an extremely fine metal screen soldered in.  Most
farm or auto stores should have them in supply.  The extremely fine wire screen
actually stops even water from passing through.  I generally carry a smaller
one in baggage.  It can mean being somewhat slower in the fueling operation
when away from home base, but I prefer to be confident about the cleanliness of
the gas the carb is getting.  Out in the countryside, you can get dirty fuel
probably more frequently than you would in the larger centers.
Be vigilent always, everywhere.

How do you filter your fuel while refueling?
