Hi Donald,

Chock one main gear wheel and the nose wheel securely.

Jack the plane just inboard of the other MLG upper leg directly under
the main spar until the tire is approximately 3-1/2" off the ground.

Remove the nut and clevis bolt from the bottom of the oleo assembly and
let the main tire rest on the ground.

Pull the oleo aft until it clears the bumper block and slide the oleo
off the piston.

Verify that the orifice in the bottom of the piston is not clogged,
check or replace the donuts or Bellevilles, and replace the AN 6227-17
O-ring or rubber cup (whichever is fitted).

Lubricate the cup or O-ring and inside of the cylinder and start the
oleo assembly back on the piston with a rotating action. Fill the
strut thru the filler cap and tube until fluid flows out.

Slowly continue rotating pressure to further raise the oleo assembly
onto the piston and move the oleo forward to rest on top of the bumper.
During this process, fluid will be forced out of the filler cap.

Replace clevis bolt, nut and install a new cotter pin. Clean up the
mess.

Lower the airplane. Repeat on other side.

(most of this comes from Fornaire Service Bulletin No. 113 dated
2/22/60)

Regards,

WRB
