I'm having exactly the same problem. I'm using ubuntu 8.04 for amd64,
the default eric version for this linux distribution is 4.1.1, and using
it I can see breakpoint icons. I disinstalled it and got the last
versions (4.3.1/ 4.3.3). Breakpoint icons disappeared.
