When installing eric6 on my Linux Mint 17.1 systems, it complains it needs Qt 4.8.0 or better, or Qt 5.3.0 or better. I have Qt 4.8.5 and Qt 5.2.1.
Qt 5.3 is not in the Mint repositories yet and is unlikely to be for some time as it is based on Ubuntu 14.04 and will be for the next year or so. I've tried Qt 5.4 using the on-line installer from the Qt web site (www.qt.io), but this installs into $HOME/qt if installed without sudo and into /opt/qt if installed as root. Not sure either of these locations will be discovered by the eric6 install script. So, how best to install Qt 5.3.0 (or better) in a way that ensures the eric6 install script will find it? Or is there a debian style repository somewhere with qt5 available? Regards, Tony. -- Tony Arnold, IT Security Analyst, University of Manchester.
