There was project ot make standard binary language between Java and Erlang

Did You try it? or do you use some cutom inteface ?
No, I'm using jinterface.
ubf is more general than that, and what we really need is remote calls from
Java to Erlang and event notifications the other way around. Maybe in the
future we'll have different requirements.
