Hi Tarek,

I missed your first message somehow. I checked now and it is in my box, but
I don't remember reading it. Sorry about that!

The list is not really used because we're mainly two people contributing
and it's much faster to chat or email directly.

We do need help, and your Java knowledge is very useful to have. We are
currently trying to sort out the APIs, so that we can separate the code
handling engine to either be fully implemented in Erlang or use Xtext (an
Eclipse project that helps implement language support, but currently it has
performance problems for the huge projects that our main user base at
Ericsson works with). For this reason, it might be a bit more confusing
than usual to try to understand what the code does. I am available to help,
though, and missing your message is an exception, not a rule :-)

The first step would be to try to import and build all projects in Eclipse.
Try to follow the instructions at https://github.com/erlide/erlide/wiki ---
but now that I checked this, it looks like I didn't update the developer
information, I will try to do it soon and let you know. You following the
instructions will be a good way to make sure that they are understandable
and that I didn't miss anything important.

When that works, try to get a feeling of what the parts are in the code
base. Since there will be changes soon, I don't think that I will write any
detailed documentation about the current code, but feel free to ask. Also,
use erlide on some projects so that you get a feeling for what it can do
and what it does badly.

That should take a little while :-) so when you are ready to actually do
something, we can look at what would be appropriate. My suggestion is that
it should be something that you feel useful, so that you don't lose
interest. I will guide you and let you know if it's something too
complicated to start with. If you want to look at what kind of problems ar
eunsolved, the tickets are at
https://erlide-tools.assembla.com/spaces/erlide/tickets and there are 425
open ones.

best regards,
Vlad
