I can't help but think every time I discuss Archicad with someone that if they forget the name, but are convinced by what I've told them about the program, I've just sold another seat of Autocad. It would seem to be that each of hese two products have a shelf life - for very similar reasons.
In this case they have a real chance to challenge Autodesk in Europe for sure and for the rest of the world we will see.
but these two companies are in direct competition with each other.
You've got a very good point there.
It's not a single file database and is more like ADT or Triforma in how it uses multiple files to create a building.
Allplan is too hard to learn: why would anyone want to learn to ride that dog? Each product will continue to develop its own niche in the marketplace and continue their attempts to expand.
The culture for the users didn't really change at all that I recall, and even the product's interface has remained largely the same despite addition of more features. Even some quite ambitious aspects on my wish list have been implemented - or are about to be: we are finally getting IFC-support in the next release! A lot of people who are familiar with Autocad think we're just making a mistake when we say "Archicad", or think we're just saying the same thing.
This additional scale is seen as essential for the long term.
We believe, that this move will serve the interests of our shareholders, customers, partners and employees as well. You've got a very good point there.
Q: Why is Nemetschek acquiring Graphisoft? This process will take time.
So far plug-ins and co-marketing are as close as these disparate branches have grown. This additional scale is seen as essential for the long term. A lot of people actually seem to think that "Autocad" is a generic name for the whole product category, like Kleenex for tissues! It would seem to be that each of hese two products have a shelf life - for very similar reasons.
