Isn't ODBC a Windows thing? I think using a whole new database abstraction strategy to avoid bugs like the ones we've seen is overkill. We just need people to use the existing drivers so the bugs are actually discovered before the code is released. The MySQL driver works great because I've been using it and fixing its bugs.
