http://oodt.jpl.nasa.gov/better-web-app.mov Some of the metrics he in the comparison are: easy of development "headaches" - points of frustration that had to be solved be outsiders validation time spent developing LoC (Lines of Code) web developer friendly AAA (Authenication, Authorisation, Accounting) templates docs i18n To be fair I think that plone is more content management than a web delevopment framework so it's at a higher layer than erlyweb, but it could give someone some ideas if not for erlyweb then for an add on project.
