I also don't want the information to stay there "forever", like you
say the information expires fairly quick.
No need to make them stay there longer for me.

OK, I think the question you really want to ask is "Why don't
popularity stats survive a restart of the application" :)
I had some ideas to persist popularity stats, but I wanted as a start
to make it fairly generic and #ESME is currently considering such
information "volatile", i.e. since it expires fairly easily anyway, it
does not survive a restart. Is there interest in making all pop stats
persistent or just some?
